The Golden Years Group stands as a beacon of hope and support for senior citizens in our community. Founded in 2010 by Pat Dance, this nonprofit organization brings together a passionate team of volunteers and trustees who dedicate their time to fostering friendships, providing practical assistance, and advocating for the needs of older adults. With programs like befriending services, equipment loans, and caregiver support, we create a nurturing environment where seniors can thrive. Join us in making a difference in their lives.
The Golden Years Group offers essential, human-centred services that bridge the gap between elders and the wider community.
They provide low-cost, high-impact support that uplifts the lives of senior citizens, ensures dignified ageing, and creates a more compassionate society.
The Golden Years Group makes donations to the elderly in need at various times during the year but blankets are always given out in the winter.
Engaging events for seniors to socialize and have fun.
Providing resources and assistance for caregivers of the elderly.
The Tree of Light is a heartfelt way to remember loved ones, with each light symbolising love, hope, and cherished memories. This tradition brings our community together and reminds us of our promise that no senior should grow old alone.
Join us for a relaxed Knit & Natter morning on the second Wednesday of every month, 10:00–12:00, at the Dutch Reform Church opposite Queness Inn. Bring your knitting, crocheting, or any other small craft project—or just yourself. It’s a gentle, friendly space to sit together over a cup of tea, swap patterns, tips and ideas, and enjoy good conversations with others in their golden years.
Choose a book, connect and enjoy companionship at our Monthly Social Gathering!
Knit & Natter is a place to have a friendly chat over tea and to bring knitting, crocheting, or other craft.
“Golden Years Group truly keeps me going. It keeps me connected to friends, and the library and Knit & Natter mornings are the only regular social activities I have. Without them, I would feel very alone.” Jerry Hooper
